Nice to Meet You!
Hello! I’m Hirossy.
Thank you so much for visiting my blog, “Hirossy | Sharing Japan.”
I’m an ordinary company employee living in Japan.
At home, I enjoy a lively life with my three children, ages 10, 8, and 6, as well as our energetic 2-year-old Corgi.
I’m not an English expert, and I can’t speak English fluently.
In fact, I’m currently relearning English from the very basics, starting with junior high school grammar.
Even so, I started this blog because I want to share the beauty of Japan with people around the world.
English Isn’t My Strongest Skill
When people hear that I write a blog for an international audience, they often assume,
“You must be good at English, right?”
But the truth is quite the opposite.
I’ve struggled with English ever since I was a student.
These days, I use generative AI to help me write my articles, but my goal is to one day communicate with people around the world in my own English, without relying on translation tools.
This blog is not only a place where I introduce Japan—it’s also a record of my own English-learning journey.
I Want to Teach My Children English… But I’m Still Learning Too
I have three wonderful children.
I want them to grow up being able to speak English, so we’ve been learning together using English educational materials.
The challenge is that I can’t speak English very well myself.
Whenever I try to teach them, I often find myself wondering,
“How would I explain this in English?”
That’s why I want to share my honest experiences as a parent—the things that have worked, the mistakes I’ve made, and everything I’ve learned along the way.
Why I Started This Blog
As I started thinking more about my future, I realized I didn’t want to rely on my salary alone.
I thought,
“Maybe it’s time to start a side business.”
However, I don’t have any special professional skills, and I didn’t want to attract attention with exaggerated claims or pretend to be someone I’m not.
Then I realized something important:
“I don’t have to become someone else. I can simply share who I am.”
I’m just…
- An ordinary Japanese dad
- A father of three children
- Someone learning English
- A big fan of Japanese snacks
- Someone who loves Japanese culture
Because I’m just an ordinary Japanese person, I believe I can share everyday life in Japan from an authentic perspective.
What You’ll Find on This Blog
On this blog, I’ll share things that only someone living in Japan can truly talk about.
Learning English
I’ll share how a Japanese person who isn’t good at English is studying and improving—successes and failures included.
Japanese Snacks
From convenience store treats to traditional sweets, I’ll introduce a wide variety of Japanese snacks from a local’s point of view.
Parenting in Japan
I’ll share my experiences raising three children and introduce what parenting and education are like in Japan.
Japanese Culture
I’ll introduce Japanese customs, traditions, and everyday culture that may seem ordinary to us but fascinating to people from other countries.
Finally
I’m still learning English.
I’ll definitely make mistakes along the way.
But even so, I want to connect with people from all over the world.
If reading this blog makes you think,
“Japan is so interesting!”
“I didn’t know Japan had a culture like that!”
“I’d love to follow Hirossy’s journey!”
then I’d be truly happy.
Thank you for being here, and I hope you’ll enjoy following my journey!
